An armed robber thought he had the perfect disguise - a lifelike latex mask which concealed his whole appearance. But Henley Stephenson, who terrorised shoppers with a semi-automatic pistol in the spree of “calculated and frightening” raids dating back more than a decade, has been jailed for 14 years. On one occasion the gun-toting thug, 41, completely altered his features by concealing his black skin with the white mask. CCTV images show him sporting an orange high visibility jacket and a pair of dark glasses to complete his look.

Violence broke out as several hundred people demonstrated in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night against the sizeable community of African immigrants in the city, police spokeswoman Luba Samri said.
The media reported that people shouted xenophobic slogans, such as “blacks out,” and chided the “bleeding heart leftists” who defend immigrants.
Over the years, an estimated 60,000 Africans, mostly from Sudan and Eritrea, have slipped over the border into Israel from Egypt.
Israel is building a wall along its border with Egypt and a detention center in the southern Negev desert.

Of the 13,683 people who entered Israel illegally in 2010, 62% were Eritreans and 33% were Sudanese. According to UNHCR figures, 66% of Eritreans who arrive illegally in the UK are granted refugee status and 96% of those arriving in Canada.
In 2010, Israel recognised three refugees, rising to six last year. In total, just 170 people claiming asylum have been granted refugee status by the Jewish state since it signed the refugee convention in 1949.

Israel trying to block itself off is really nothing new. the reason i think why people are so shocked about what’s going on with the treatment and backlash of African diasporic immigrants is because everyone gets too caught up on Israel rescuing Ethiopian Jewish communities via operation solomon in the late 1980s, and doesn’t actually pay attention to what happened after they were brought to Israel let alone their treatment of Ethiopian Jews in present day Israeli society.

Shorter University stepped in it big time when they forced faculty members to sign a pledge vowing to swear off homosexuality, premarital sex and drinking.
In an anonymous survey in April, only 12 percent of faculty and staff said that they planned to stay at Shorter University, a 139-year-old Baptist school, reports Inside Higher Ed. More than 50 resigned before the new contracts were even distributed, and certain departments, such as science and fine arts, have been “eviscerated,” according to Michael Wilson, a tenured librarian for the university who’s worked there for 14 years.
“Through our policies, we seek to honor Jesus Christ,” the university said in a statement. “We understand that there are those who do not agree with our beliefs. We are not trying to undermine their right to those beliefs, but want to be transparent about our own.”
“Where is today’s American Taliban? At Shorter University,” tenured Shorter professor Sherri Weiler wrote in the Rome News-Tribune. “Religious fundamentalism in any form (Muslim or Christian) is sheer lunacy in today’s divided, fractured, and tormented world. True peace is only to be found in opening the doors, not closing the gates.”

33 days ago I paid somebody to torture a boy.
Omar Khadr, a sixteen year old Guantanamo Bay detainee weeps uncontrollably, clutching at his face and hair as he calls out for his mother to save him from his torment. “Ya Ummi, Ya Ummi (Oh Mother, Oh Mother),” he wails repeatedly, hauntingly with each breath he takes.
The surveillance tapes, released by Khadr’s defence, show him left alone in an interrogation room for a “break” after he tried complaining to CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) officers about his poor health due to insufficient medical attention. Ignoring his complaints and trying to get him to make false confessions, the officers get frustrated with the sixteen year old’s tears and tell him to get himself together by the time they come back from their break.
“You don’t care about me. Nobody cares about me,” he sobs to them.
The tapes show how the officers manipulated Khadr into thinking that they were helping him because they were also Canadian and how they taunted him with the prospect of home (Canada), (good) food, and familial reunion.
Khadr, a Canadian, was taken into US custody at the age of fifteen, tortured and refused medical attention because he wouldn’t attest to being a member of Al Qaeda, even though he was shot three times in the chest and had shrapnel embedded in his eyes and right shoulder. As a result, Khadr’s left eye is now permanently blind, the vision in his right eye is deteriorating, he develops severe pain in his right shoulder when the temperature drops, and he suffers from extreme nightmares.
He has been incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay since 2002, suffering extremely harsh interrogations and torture (methods), and is now 25 years old.
How can they justify shooting and imprisoning a CHILD

This is seriously serial-killer level torturing shit. If a single person did this, capturing a teenage boy and keeping them locked up and treating them like this, we’d call them a serial killer, a predator, a sociopath.
But when the government does it and has several individuals on a lot of levels making it happen, suddenly it’s okay.
And this is why civil liberties matter. This is why we need due process, in a transparent fashion.
If your first concern about Guantanamo and other detention sites is cost? FUCK YOU.
If your first concern about government power is that the TSA searches you? FUCK YOU.
No lawyers, no due process, no rights, no trials, no rule of law. This doesn’t stop terrorism, this IS terrorism.

Ever wondered by it’s okay for women to wear pants but men can’t wear dresses? It’s because dresses are feminine and men who wear them are degrading themselves with femininity, whereas women who wear pants are improving themselves with masculinity. What a bunch of bullshit! If there are any men out there who truly value women as equals, they will be unafraid to show that MEN CAN PROUDLY WEAR DRESSES.
So today I’m putting out the call to my surprisingly large number of male followers to go out, don a dress, take a picture, and submit it! It’s open to anyone who’s male-assigned or male-identified, so don’t be shy!
